Error Severity
ICritical Errors:
- Errors that cause downstream costs (e.g. reprint, lawsuit, etc.);
- Errors that may mislead end users of any products and lead to dangerous results or
injuries (e.g. mis-operation of medical devices or misuse of medicine, etc.);
- Incomplete translation (any unnecessary omission of information, including key words,
sentences, and paragraphs);
- Mistranslation of key words/terms, figures, etc.
IIMajor Errors:
- Errors that lead to misunderstanding and/or reduce usability;
- Errors due to noncompliance with project requirements & instructions (including
inconsistency with available Glossary or TMs or noncompliance with clients’
instructions);
- Improper translation of key words;
- Highly visible mistranslation (e.g. company websites, brochures, booklets, etc.);
- Unreadable translation.
IIIMinor Errors:
- Spelling errors not resulting in a loss of meaning;
- Grammar or syntax errors that do not result in a loss of meaning;
- Punctuation errors not resulting in a loss of meaning;
- Unnecessary translation;
- Tag omission;
- Awkward translation without loss of meaning;
- Any other errors that should not be counted as critical or major errors.
NOTES:
- Repeated errors should be counted only once. Please do not add repeated errors into
the QA Details section.
- Formatting errors should not be counted.
- Preferential errors should not be counted as errors.
Preferential Changes: Any change to a translation that is accurate, grammatically
correct, compliant to the instructions and reference material. (Not considered
errors)
